Winter 2016 “La Casa Youth Development Program” beginning on January 23rd, 2016 at NYC Lab School for Collaborative Studies

1/4/2016

Hello,
My name is Yisbell Marrero, 18, senior, and I attend NYC Lab School for Collaborative Studies. I am reaching out to all New York City High Schools because I have started this new program, “La Casa Youth Development Program” beginning on January 23rd. I would love to recruit high school students and members of, but not limited to, Hispanic community.
As a member of the Hispanic Community, I have the rare privilege of helping students of the Hispanic/ Latino descent  bring out their roots.  I have started La Casa Youth Development Program to recruit high school participants that are interested and committed to enhancing their knowledge base and skills in diverse areas, informed by research and scholarly insight. Areas will include, but are not limited to: language, ethnicity and cultural awareness, Puerto Rican/Caribbean history, folklore and the arts, and an understanding of the historical and cultural forces that have shaped us.

Enclosed, is a flyer providing more specific details about the program. Please let me know if your school would like to play a role in the program along with allowing me to provide the school with flyers. Feel free to can contact me at Yisbelm@nyclabschool.org / Youthdevprgm@gmail.com or 929 351-8607.
As you may know, opportunities to expose diverse students to non-traditional stories about Hispanic culture do not present themselves often.  Your participation will literally change the game! And for me it will be a dream come true!

Thank you,
Yisbell Marrero
