participate in a partnership with
Parsons The New
School for Design and
The Fortune
Society.
WHEELS, Parsons The New School for Design, and The Fortune Society
have secured a two-year Rockefeller Foundation grant to explore the role of
service design in the making of communities.
Explore the
question:
What does it mean
when we make a thing for ourselves?
At WHEELS, we find ourselves answering how we work and what
makes us, us. Participation in
this work allows us time, space and a modest amount of funding (for students,
not teachers) as we consider this question and document our work.
Collaborate with
students at
Parsons The New
School for Design and
The Fortune
Society.
Undergraduate students in service design at Parsons and GED
students at Fortune will be working on their own set of parallel questions, in
their own school communities.
Plan and conduct
fieldwork at
Parsons The New
School for Design and
The Fortune
Society.
WHEELS participants will visit both sites to share our work.
Present your work
on local, regional and national levels.
If interested, students will be able to write proposals to
present our work at a variety of conferences, including but not limited to
WHEELS expos, EL conferences, New School Collaboratory sessions, other YTBD
academic conferences.
Interested?
Ideal applicants have a deep-down interest in thinking through
the focusing question, in entering into a two year partnership with Parsons and
Fortune (especially since WHEELS students will be the only students involved
from start to finish).
