Take advantage of events in our local parks!

The mission of the Fort Tryon Park Trust is to promote the restoration, preservation, and enhancement of this historic and scenic landmark for the benefit and use of the surrounding community and all New Yorkers. The Trust partners with New York City Parks & Recreation to secure dedicated funding for park restoration efforts, ongoing horticultural maintenance, and free public programming.
Thanks to the Fort Tryon Park Trust’s partnership with NYC Parks, two remarkably diverse gardens, the Heather Garden and the Alpine Garden are being restored. These gardens feature over 250 varieties of trees, shrubs and perennials. There is so much to see in every season! With a staff of NYC Parks’ gardeners and countless volunteers we have recaptured the beauty of its original 1935 design. If you want to help the park thrive as a volunteer, join us during one of our beautification days. Or come on one of our monthly garden tours to learn more about one of the most horticulturally diverse parks in New York City. In addition to plant diversity and volunteer opportunities, the Trust provides free kids, arts, and fitness programming, featuring yoga, tai chi, concerts, birding, and more. To learn about our diverse offerings, visit our events page.
The Fort Tryon Park Trust has already raised $3 million for an endowment to help sustain the park for future generations. A generous gift from the Peter Jay Sharp Foundation initiated the restoration of the three-acre "Alpine Garden," with its carved stone staircases, rock garden plantings, and grotto water feature. A one-mile Winter Walk of conifers and evergreen plantings is being developed, thanks to the generosity of The Arthur Ross Foundation. Historic water service has been reinstated throughout the Broadway expanse of the park thanks to the Cleveland H. Dodge Foundation. These funders have been essential to the current restoration projects but the partnership of local park users and visitors are equally critical to sustaining the beauty and vitality of the park. We rely on contributions from our local community to preserve and enhance the park for future generations. To show your support visit our donation page.
