Program Overview
The New York Office Volunteer Internship Program (VIP) offers high school, undergraduate students who reside or attend a school within the Metropolitan New York City or New Jersey area; an exciting insider's view of FBI operations and provides an opportunity to explore the many career opportunities within the Bureau. The NY VIP brings students to work at the FBI New York Field Office located in lower Manhattan in New York City. The internship usually begins on the first Monday in June and ends on the third Friday in August. FBI Volunteer Interns can look forward to ten (10) extremely rewarding and interesting weeks. You will be working side-by-side with Special Agents and Professional Staff personnel on important cases and management issues. You will feel like you are part of the Bureau... because you are.
The Volunteer Internship Program is looking for highly motivated high school juniors, seniors and college undergraduate students. The FBI does not limit the applicant pool to specific areas of study, but seeks to make the "best fit" of an applicant in the internship. Typically, the following disciplines are brought to the FBI in its overall mission in fighting terrorism: Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Global Studies, English, International Relations Management, Computer Science, Information System Development, Integration Communications, Audio Development, Visual Education, Criminal Justice, International Studies, History, Journalism, Human Resources, Arts, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Criminology, Social Work, Anthropology, History, Law, and Law (Cultural Property), Business Administration, Process Management, Organization Change Management, Organizational Psychology, Informational Technology, Political Science, Library Science, Marketing, Advertising, Television and Public Relations.
By the end of your internship, you will have a basic understanding of the inner workings of the FBI and a deep feeling of satisfaction that the work you have done has helped the lives of many citizens. You will also learn about the many career opportunities at the FBI. No matter what career path you eventually choose, serving as an FBI Volunteer Intern will be an experience you will never forget, and one that will benefit you in all of your future endeavors.
