Wishbone Fall After-School Program Application Instructions
Am I eligible?
You are eligible to participate in Wishbone if you are:
• Passionate about something and want to pursue it outside of the school day
• A high school student in New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, or Los Angeles
• Demonstrate financial need (by qualifying for the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program, or
by providing other documentation of financial need)
• Receive permission from your parent/guardian to participate in Wishbone and the program you
select
• Contribute 10% of the program cost to Wishbone. This payment must be made online by credit card.
The amount you will owe is listed on the program profile on our database. You can also confirm the
amount with us by emailing: support@wishbone.org
What are the requirements?
1. Pick the program you want to attend. Explore our programs on our program database, and we’ve
also highlighted our top programs below.
2. Complete the application: http://goo.gl/0QRN1k
3. If accepted to Wishbone, we will then email you instructions for registering for the after-school
program you selected.
4. We will ask you to submit a photo of yourself, a thank you note that will be shared with our donors,
and a signed release form from you and your parent/guardian.
5. Attend your program this fall!
6. Submit a post-program update to us that we will share with our donors.

ABADA Capoeira
ABADA is dedicated to spreading awareness and
practice of Capoeira, a unique combination of
dance, martial arts, and acrobatics that has origins
in Afro-Brazilian culture. Classes meet twice
weekly, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Physical skills developed in
classes include improved reflexes, balance,
coordination, muscular strength and toning,
flexibility, mobility, and cardiovascular health.
Broadway Dance Center Teen Classes
Instructors are professionals and experienced
teachers representing the industry’s top talent; classes, meanwhile, are offered in a variety of fields,
including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, Latin jazz, modern, lyrical, and more. Classes last for an hour
apiece and take place on the weekends so that they don’t interfere with students’ school schedules.
Fashion Institute of Technology: Saturday and Sunday Live
FIT offers Saturday and Sunday classes during the school year to enterprising high school students who
want to start their fashion education early. Students who participate will take advantage of unique
course offerings, meet fashion-conscious friends, and get to enjoy a taste of college life—as well as
enhancing their college applications and resumes!
International Center for Photography Teen Classes
Every semester, the International Center of
Photography’s Teen Academy program brings high
school students from across New York City into high-
level photography classes on Saturdays and Sundays.
Imparting knowledge about photography and the
history of photography, teaching students both
technical and aesthetic skills, and familiarizing students
with darkroom practices are goals common to all the
Teen Academy’s classes. More specialized subjects
include black-and-white photography, color
photography, lighting for portraiture, and the art of the
self-portrait.
New York Film Academy Filmmaking and Acting
Courses
Get started on your career as a filmmaker or actor by
being one on the weekends! These intensive
programs introduce aspiring filmmakers, video
artists, and actors to the fascinating world of movies
and digital movie-making. The program culminates
in a final project.
Parsons Pre-College Academy
Parsons Pre-College Academy courses promote design thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Classes
meet Saturday mornings during the school year and include animation, architecture, fashion, game
design, graphic design, interior design, illustration, printmaking, digital design, 3D design, drawing,
painting, cartooning, photography, and portfolio development.
Pratt Institute Weekend Program
Get an inside look at college-level arts education with this weekend program at Brooklyn’s Pratt
Institute! Students will enroll in an elective that meets between nine and twelve times over the course of
the spring or fall semester. Students should have a strong interest in the arts, but otherwise no
experience is required. Before arriving to the program, students choose an elective in art and design,
architecture, or portfolio development and meet every Saturday or Sunday for four-hour sessions.
RISE Hip Hop
This evening program in hip hop dance welcomes students of
every experience level. The method the instructors use to teach
is simple and effective: they break down moves into different,
easy-to-learn parts, and they avoid teaching memorized
routines. Instead, they encourage students to learn naturally by
practice and drills, building confidence and style as they go.
The School at Peridance
The Peridance School offers a unique, interdisciplinary approach to dance education. With a wide variety
of classes and techniques available, you can customize your after-school schedule to fit you and your
interests.
School of Visual Arts Fall Programs
Get a head start on college-level arts coursework with this weekend program at SVA! With a variety of
classes to choose from, this convenient educational opportunity complements the high school semester
with focused arts training. Students registering choose among many different classes on subjects like oil
painting, animation, cartooning, screenwriting, typography, figure drawing, interior design, and digital
photography.
