Take a tour of the "Park for All Seasons." Take a walking tour of the Heather and Alpine Gardens of Fort Tryon Park. Discover which plants are in bloom in each of the seasons, even in the dead of winter. Learn about the gardens' history, future, and secrets from a member of Fort Tryon's expert horticulture staff.
These tours are wheelchair accessible but persons with mobility issues may find them challenging because of the park's many steep paths.

This event repeats every week on Saturday between 4/6/2013 and 3/1/2014.
From Porcelainberry to Multiflora Rose and Oriental Bittersweet, the Highbridge Forest Crew works to remove these invasive plants and others from the park and to care for recently planted native trees. The Forest Crew will learn basic invasive and native plant identification, proper removal techniques and an overview of NYRP’s approach to urban reforestation. Anyone interested in forest ecology, invasive plant removal, and urban forests should attend and join the Forest Crew in their work every Saturday afternoon.

Bring the whole family and find out as you roam the winter woods in search of owls with expert naturalist Mike Feller. It's the beginning of their mating season so you may observe some interesting behaviors. Mike will demonstrate how to attract owls using calls.

Mike Feller's Nature Walks in Northern Manhattan Parks are generously supported by the Greenacre Foundation and the Fort Tryon Park Trust.

Inwood Hill Park, Caring for Young Trees

Volunteer with Natural Areas Volunteers (NAV) at Inwood Hill Park to care for newly planted trees. This work will help maintain the livelihood of the restored forest. Volunteers will be trained in tree care, invasive weed identification and removal techniques. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants and clothing that can get dirty.
Space is limited. Registration is required for this event.
