FALL 2016 Fort Tryon Medieval Festival Sunday, September 18, 2016 11:30 AM-6 PM

http://www.whidc.org/festival/directions.html

The Fort Tryon Medieval Festival brings to life the customs and spirit of the Middle Ages. Manhattan's Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags. Performers, guests and festival goers dress in medieval costumes.

Visitors are greeted by authentic medieval music, dance, magic, and minstrels, as well as jugglers and jesters. The afternoon is concluded with a thrilling joust between four knights on horseback. Costumed vendors will be on hand to demonstrate and sell a wide variety of medieval crafts as well as food and drink.

The festival is free -- there are no charges for admission or entertainment. Donations at our wishing wells are welcome, however!

Compost Workday UPTOWN

Every Saturday, New York Restoration Project takes the food scraps collected at Inwood Greenmarket and organic material we've collected in our daily work in the Sherman Creek and Highbridge Parks and process it into our compost windrow. Join us on the second Saturday of the month to get an inside look at this process and learn some of the basics of composting. The experience is 100% hands-on, so be prepared to do some heavy lifting and get dirty! At the end of the day, take home a free bag of NYRP compost.
