Elementary School


Wild Zoo Academy Camp at the Queens Zoo

Open to students entering Grades 1 and 2Monday, August 10 – Monday, August 14, 2015
Camp begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM every day
Campers will go on a wild adventure! They will explore different classes of animals and different animal habitats. Campers will create crafts, meet animal guests, engage in hands on activities and explore the wilderness of the Americas in the zoo’s exhibits.

Junior Scientist Camp at the Queens Zoo

Open to students entering Grade 5Monday, July 27 2015 to Friday, July 31, 2015
Camp begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM every day
Campers will learn science, technology, engineering and math through animal behaviors, exhibits, and nutrition. Each day campers will be immersed in a variety of hands-on learning experiences that will help them explore science. All activities will encourage participants to be creative, work collaboratively, share ideas, and gain an appreciation of animals in the zoo.

Middle School


Marine Career Exploration Camp at The New York Aquarium

Open to students entering Grades 6, 7 and 8Monday, July 20, 2015 to Friday, July 24, 2015
Camp begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM every day
Campers will learn about careers in marine biology, animal care, and other jobs at living institutions like the New York Aquarium while engaging in hands-on activities related to daily career themes and meeting experts who have marine and Aquarium-related careers. The week-long exploration culminates in a special presentation session of each camper's work related to the creation and deployment of a small mobile unit that mimics underwater exploration. Families and friends are invited to attend the final session.

Wildlife Ecology Camp 2015 at the Staten Island Zoo

Open to students entering Grades 6, 7 and 8Monday, July 27, 2015 to Friday, July 31, 2015
Camp begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM every day
Campers will become deeply immersed in the work of a wildlife ecologist to learn about ecology and conservation biology and become "ecosystems experts." Through hands-on experiences using Zoo exhibits, animals and resources, campers will explore the interactions of living and nonliving things within an ecosystem, observe physical and behavioral adaptations of different animals, and develop their own ecosystem to better understand the natural world.

STEM S.T.A.R.S. at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

Open to students entering Grades 7 and 8Monday, August 17, 2015 to Friday, August 21, 2015
Camp begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM every day
Campers will become deeply immersed in the study of the Earth-sun-moon system, the solar system and beyond. Integral to the experience will be exploring the Museum’s exhibits including Mercury and Gemini space capsule replicas, the space shuttle orbiter Enterprise and a Russian Soyuz capsule. The Museum’s portable planetarium, Hubble Space Telescope exhibition resources and connections to NASA will all contribute to this exciting summer camp experience.
