Sing for Hope, Pop-Up Pianos

June 5, 2015 to June 21, 2015
Various Locations
,
Description:
This summer, from June 5th through June 21st, the Sing for Hope Pianos return to our city streets. In one of New York City’s most vibrant public art installations, 50 artist-designed pianos are placed in parks and public spaces throughout the 5 boroughs for anyone and everyone to enjoy.
Once on the streets, neighborhood associations and community organizations serve as “piano buddies” and supervise each piano throughout the duration of the project, making sure they are protected from inclement weather. The Sing for Hope Pianos unite our city, as artists from all walks of life create daily spontaneous concerts and neighborhoods come together around the shared gift of music and art.
For more information and a list of locations visit Sing for Hope’s Pop-Up Pianos website .

LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS FOR FUN ARTS EVENTS UPTOWN?

1024px-Fort_Tryon_Park
Fort Tryon Park
This site is built and maintained by Jeanine McAdam and Ruth Lilienstein-Gatton two long time Upstate Manhattan residents. We love our community, and want to share the wonderful artistic and culture events happening in Washington Heights and Inwood. Plus, we’ve grown tired of traveling downtown for entertainment when there are so many interesting things happening in the neighborhood.

From 140th Street to the northern tip of Manhattan we will keep track of our thriving arts community. Links will be available to visual art, performing art (theater & dance), the written word, music, film and even children’s events. Plus each of northern Manhattan’s cultural institutions will be featured and we will include unique happenings available in the area.

Please join us on this journey by stopping by Heightsites.com often and following us on Twitter (https://twitter.com/HeightSites) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/heightsites). We will tweet and post daily. Also, sign up for our weekly newsletter. With the convenience of your inbox you will see all Heightsites.com has to offer.

And, if you are an arts or cultural institution with an event happening in Washington Heights or Inwood, we would be delighted to list your offering. Also, note—if you have something unique happening, please submit that event to us too. For all events go to our ‘Submit an Event’ page and provide us with the relevant information.

Are you a local business and interested in advertising with us? We have lots traffic on the site and welcome sponsors. We can help you get the ‘word out’ about the services you provide in our community at a very affordable rate.  Go to our ‘Advertise with Us‘ page for more information,
Thank you again for stopping by Heightsites.com. Please come back often. Our listings are updated daily and you never know when you might find something interesting to do this weekend or even tonight! See you in the neighborhood!

In the afternoons, inspired campers will have the opportunity to shoot micro-films in the park and around the neighborhood.
