FALL 2015... APPLY NOW TO WISHBONE.ORG

We're Wishbone, and we believe that passionate students like you should pursue their dreams.
Here's how it works:
  1. Browse Wishbone’s extensive program offerings to find the perfect program.
  2. Apply to Wishbone. If accepted, we will support you in applying to the program of your choice.
  3. We will publish your campaign to the Wishbone community so that you and your advocate can promote your campaign and reach your funding goal.
  4. Through exclusive scholarships from program partners and negotiated corporate and foundation sponsorships, Wishbone supports your fundraising efforts.
We’ve helped 583 students pursue their passion at a summer program. Here’s what a few say:
Kaylla has loved fashion since she was four. Through Wishbone, she raised $1,722 to attend Parsons.
Taking a course at Parsons was a dream come true for me. I met such interesting and creative people, and realized that it is possible to make my passion into a career. Read Her Story →
Alondra has dreamed of becoming a dancer for years. Through Wishbone, she raised $1,722 to attend Brooklyn Ballet.
I used to walk past Brooklyn Ballet’s studios and I always wished I could take classes there. It was never an option for me until I learned about Wishbone. Read Her Story →
Jose Luis raised $677 to attend Academy of Art University to take architecture and acting classes.
I never had an opportunity at school to pursue architecture. I was really motivated to be in room with so many people who had the same passion as me. It made me realize how much dedication and skill it takes to hone a talent.
Daniela raised $3,450 to attend Barnard College’s Young Women’s Leadership Institute.
My time at Barnard College has definitely influenced my plans for my future...I am a rising senior, and because I really enjoyed being at Barnard and experiencing the New York City environment, I am planning on applying to this institution next year.
We work with over 550 summer programs. From athletics to science, there’s a program for you:

We find promising students with specific passions

Students learn about Wishbone from their teachers and apply online. Students must meet these criteria:
  • Current high school student (grades 9 through 12)
  • Living in New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and Connecticut
  • Low-income
  • Passionate about a particular interest, such as music, science, leadership, or athletics

Students apply for a program that fits their needs

We have a network of high-quality, accredited programs for students to choose from, based on their interests and location. Each program is vetted for our students and their skill sets.
If a student applies and qualifies for a program, we invite them to complete a full application, including:
  • Brief questions
  • A personal essay
  • Consent from a parent or guardian
  • A written recommendation from a teacher, coach, or mentor
Every Wishbone student has an adult Advocate. In addition to submitting the written recommendation, the Advocate helps the student fundraise their program fees using Wishbone’s crowd-sourced fundraising platform and Fundraiser Toolkit.

We enable program affordability through a combination of fundraising channels

Through exclusive tuition discounts from program partners, crowd-sourced campaign funding, and negotiated corporate and foundation sponsorships, we’re able to help a growing number of students afford program opportunities to pursue their passions.

We share success stories to inspire others

Our students share updates about their experience with donors online and by email. After finishing their program, they return to classrooms more engaged — inspiring peers with a heightened sense of personal motivation and involvement in their education.
