Support a WHEELS student's wishbone.org campaign... Support Thalya...
https://www.wishbone.org/campaigns/764410/thalya
Thalya is a high-achieving student at a school with universal entitlement to free lunch in Washington Heights.
She was accepted to Culinary Cooking Camp for Teens but she can't afford to attend. By donating, you'll help her pursue her passion.
Thalya
My passion is cooking.
I always have loved cooking. It makes me be in a happy place. It's something I feel I have learned how to do on my own. But I've never taken cooking classes. I like the idea of being taught different techniques and recipes that I can try at home. I've also recently been selected to serve as a student leader with the WHEELS-Good Flavor Farms Project partnership, a farm to school program with a social justice aim.
From Thalya's teacher, Ms. MacNeil:
"I have known Thalya three years and have had the pleasure of working with her as her ninth grade team leader, tenth grade college prep teacher and as her eleventh grade SAT prep instructor. In my role as Dean of Student Affairs, I have been moved by her maturity, openness and curiosity. Thalya has often discussed food justice and culinary arts-related options for her college and career choices. In her college prep course, her case studies focused on sustainable food systems and culinary arts programs that sought to serve poor communities of color."

Treecycle at MulchFest onJanuary 10 and 11, 2015!
Treecycle at MulchFest
onJanuary 10 and 11, 2015!
On Saturday, January 10th andSunday, January 11th, NYC Parks will host the annual MulchFest from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day at locations citywide. Bring your holiday tree to one of over 80 designated parks to be recycled into mulch that will nourish plantings across the city or your own garden!
This year, be one of thousands of New York households to help the environment and the community by bringing your tree to our nearest collection site. There will be 36 chipping sites and 47 drop-off sites throughout the five boroughs. And this year, you can bring your tree to a drop-off site starting Saturday, January 3rd and running through the 11th.
It’s easier than ever!
Remember to remove all lights and decorations before bringing the tree to a MulchFest site.
Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the free mulch available at each chipping site. Free mulch collection bags are provided for your convenience.
For more information about MulchFest and a list of sites in your borough, visit the Mulchfest website. MulchFest is supported this year by Whole Foods and 92.3 AMP Radio.
Treecycle and help NYC grow!
